Chakra Series

The Chakra Series came from my own connection with the chakras and how I use them within my personal practices.

One day I had a thought: what if I could actually see them?

I began imagining each chakra in the form of a Black woman, creating an avatar that represented the energy of each one. Suddenly, they felt more personal to me. I could see myself reflected in them and connect with them in a way I hadn't before. Now, when I'm focusing on a particular chakra within my body, I picture her, her face, her colours, her energy. There's something comforting about having that image to connect with. That's what I wanted to bring into this series. Each woman represents a different chakra, interpreted through my own artistic language of thread, texture and colour. They aren't simply representations of the chakras. They're the women I see when I close my eyes.
