Commissioned in 2022 by the High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago, Mr Vishnu Dhanpaul, Madam Trinity: The Hummingbird was created to commemorate the nation’s 60th Independence Anniversary.

Following Cornwall’s solo exhibition Flow: The Art of Letting Go, the High Commissioner sought a sculptural work that embodied the spirit and identity of Trinidad and Tobago. The resulting fibre-based avatar integrates the national flag colours and the symbolic hummingbird interpreted through Cornwall’s layered thread and sculptural technique.

The work stands as a celebration of cultural pride, feminine presence and national resilience, translated through abstract fibre form.
