my nature
Once a pristine mannequin bust desired, displayed and adorned she eventually became discarded. Worn by time and use, marked by the industry she once served, she was reduced to an object with a handwritten “for sale” sign attached.
When Cornwall encountered her in a haberdashery shop, she did not see damage or imperfection. She saw potential. She saw inner beauty. She saw life waiting to be restored.
The mannequin remained in the studio for six months before transformation began. Each passing day carried a quiet promise: I will bring you back to life.
When the time felt aligned, the process began stitching, fusing, layering, embellishing. Hours became days, days became weeks. What emerged was not a repair, but a rebirth.
My Nature reflects renewal and interconnectedness. Like nature itself, we carry marks of experience scars, growth, change yet remain inherently beautiful. We exist in different shapes, shades and stories, but are fundamentally connected.
The work becomes a metaphor for restoration, reclamation and the power of seeing beyond surface condition.
