CONSTRAINTS PART OF ME

Constraints Part of Me grew from my original sculpture, Constraints, taking the same ideas and bringing them into a smaller, more intimate piece.

Like the original, she represents the parts of ourselves that can become hidden beneath expectations, pressure and the need to fit into what others think we should be.

But her name also carries another meaning for me.

She is quite literally a part of Constraints, but she also represents a part of me.

A part that has questioned, grown, changed and learned to recognise who I am beneath everything else.

Her colours, patterns and form carry that journey forward, reminding me that personal growth doesn't mean leaving every version of ourselves behind.

Sometimes we carry those earlier versions with us, they simply become part of who we are now.
